Our faculty-led summer I semester study abroad program allows university studies students to experience the sustainable architecture and urban development of Germany. While living in Bonn, you’ll explore master-planned communities while taking courses in design communication and philosophy.

About the Program
Our program addresses multidisciplinary design principles in a country that leads to sustainable development and innovation. Although based in Bonn, you’ll have the opportunity to visit historic sites and contemporary architecture in nearby regions, including Berlin.
Areas of Emphasis
- Organized class excursions to energy and recreational facilities, including the Metabolon Garden of Technics, Trier and Mosbach Energy Landscape, and Landschaftspark Nord
- German cultural immersion
- Sustainable infrastructure
Curriculum
All students are required to take a total of 6-credit hours during the study abroad semester. Students should meet with their academic advisors to ensure they meet eligibility requirements and that the courses are degree applicable.

What are the eligibility requirements?

How long is the program?
The study abroad program in Germany spans five weeks.
Will this delay my degree plan?
No. The program allows you to complete the same coursework offered at the Texas A&M campus. Because you’ll be earning college credit over the summer, you’ll actually be getting ahead!

What will I do during my study abroad semester?
The program is centered on living in Bonn, Germany. You’ll complete courses in design, as well as visit notable sites throughout the region during your stay. Past trips to cultural sites have included Berlin.
Who will I stay with?
You will be assigned a host family during your visit.
Are there COVID-19 traveling restrictions?
As of October 29, there are delays in passport processing due to COVID-19. Students should apply for their passports at least three months in advance to allow for adequate processing time. Students are required to be completely vaccinated to participate in the program.
