Nominations for outstanding college alumni due May 1
Do you know of a former Texas A&M College of Architecture student who is a candidate for the college’s highest honor, the Outstanding Alumni Award? Nominations for the 2020 award are due by May 1 — a new, extended deadline due to the COVID-19 upheaval.
“This award recognizes the exemplary leadership, relentless pursuit of excellence, exceptional talents and numerous accomplishments of the recipients,” said Jorge Vanegas, dean of the college. “We strongly encourage those who know a former student deserving of this prestigious honor to nominate him or her.”
Anyone may nominate a former student for the award following the criteria and process detailed on the Outstanding Alumni Award website, where nomination forms are available. The 2020 Outstanding Alumni will be honored at a Thursday, Nov. 12 banquet at the George Hotel.
Since its inception in 1997, less than one percent of the college’s former students have received this award, the college’s highest honor.
Completed nomination packages should be sent by May 1, 2020 to Deanna Cowan, dcowan@arch.tamu.edu. Organizers are requesting that nomination packets be sent solely by email since most college administrators and staff are working remotely.
Biographies of previous Outstanding Alumni Award recipients can be viewed on the college website.
The 2019 Outstanding Alumni honorees were recognized at a Nov. 14 banquet at the Hildebrand Equine Complex.
