Rehmann ’78 remembered as industry leader, construction education supporter
A memorial service for Randy Rehmann ’78, a leader in the construction contracting industry who passed away Feb. 9, 2021, took place Feb. 18 in Austin, Texas.
A leading supporter of Texas A&M’s Department of Construction Science, Rehmann, 64, was a founding executive of Dynamic Systems, Inc., an Austin-based, national turnkey mechanical and process construction firm.
After Rehmann founded DSI with fellow coworkers a day after they were all laid off by an employer, the firm became a top national company in creating healthy and energy-efficient environments for commercial and specialty markets including airport terminals, corporate offices and campuses, university campuses, correctional facilities, and solar manufacturing.
In 2013, as the firm’s chairman and CEO, Rehmann signed a gift agreement adding a $100,000 specialty lab to Francis Hall, which at the time was undergoing a renovation to become the home of construction education at Texas A&M.
The lab was an addition to the firm’s existing financial and personal contributions to the Department of Construction Science.
An Outstanding Alumnus of the College of Architecture, Rehmann also served as an officer and president of Texas A&M’s Construction Industry Advisory Council, a group of industry leaders and former construction science students who advise department administrators and faculty on contemporary construction issues and influence the department’s strategic direction and course content.
He also served in leadership positions of numerous professional, church and civic organizations.
