Students design structures for organic Cambodian farm project
Designs for structures for an organic, self-sustaining farm system in Cambodia were created this fall by environmental design students led by Julie Rogers, senior architecture lecturer. The farm system will provide food and income for rural Cambodians, who have been hit hard by the pandemic.
“Rest assured, this project will not be put aside,” said project leader Bill Morse, founding president of the Landmine Relief Fund, a U.S.-based charity. Morse has teamed with Cambodian organizations in the effort.
The students were advised by former ENDS students who designed a museum in a Rogers-led 2004 studio that spotlighted the millions of live landmines laid in decades-past wars that still remain embedded in Cambodia’s soil. The museum was built and stands today in Siem Reap, Cambodia.
