Five faculty members earn tenure
The School of Architecture recently elevated five faculty members to tenured professors. Tenure is a high honor and important career milestone in academia and is reflective of these individual’s outstanding leadership, achievements and tangible impact on their fields of study.

Department of Architecture
Marcelo López-Dinardi
Marcelo López-Dinardi an assistant professor in the department of architecture, where he teaches courses in situating and interrogating architecture in its environment, culture, economy, territory, and media.
López-Dinardi holds a bachelor of architecture (cum laude) from the Polytechnic University of Puerto Rico in 2004 and a master of science in critical, curatorial, and conceptual practices for architecture from the graduate school of architecture, planning and preservation of Columbia University in 2013.

James Michael Tate
James Michael Tate is an assistant professor of architecture at Texas A&M University and runs the architectural practice T8projects.
Tate earned his bachelor of environmental design in architecture from Texas A&M University in 2002 and completed his master of architecture from Yale University School of Architecture in 2007.

Department of Construction Science
Dr. Chukwuma Nnaji
Dr. Chukwuma Nnaji is an assistant professor in the department of construction science and his research focuses on formulating strategies and developing decision support tools that enhance construction safety and health, sustainable construction, human-robot interactions, construction automation, workforce development in different construction environments.
Nnaji earned his bachelor of science from Imo State University in 2010. He went on to receive a master of science in civil engineering from Oregon State University in 2015, followed by a master of business administration in innovation management from Oregon State University in 2017. He completed his doctorate in civil engineering the following year.

Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning
Dr. Tara B. Goddard
Dr. Tara Goddard is an associate professor in the department of landscape architecture and urban planning at Texas A&M University. Goddard is known internationally for her expertise on reducing traffic deaths and injuries, particularly for pedestrians, bicyclists, and other vulnerable road users, her work on roadway safety culture, and for studies examining racial and gender bias in transportation safety.
Goddard obtained a bachelor of science in mechanical engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara in 2002. After earning a master’s degree in civil engineering from University of California, Davis in 2005, Goddard then earned her doctorate in urban studies at Portland State University in 2017.

Dr. Thomas W. Sanchez
Dr. Thomas W. Sanchez is a professor in landscape architecture & urban planning at Texas A&M University. Sanchez’s research focuses on artificial intelligence and city planning. He is a recognized expert in his field, frequently serving as a panelist and presenter at various urban planning conferences.
Sanchez holds a bachelor of arts in environmental studies from University of California, Santa Barbara in 1284 and obtained his master of city and regional planning in1985. He earned his doctorate in city planning from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 1995.
