{"id":294,"date":"2021-09-20T11:42:32","date_gmt":"2021-09-20T16:42:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/arch.tamu.edu.staging2.juiceboxint.com\/?page_id=294"},"modified":"2022-05-09T09:02:02","modified_gmt":"2022-05-09T14:02:02","slug":"education","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.arch.tamu.edu\/impact\/centers-institutes-outreach\/chc\/education\/","title":{"rendered":"CHC&#8217;s Commitment to Education"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Center for Heritage Conservation provides focused interdisciplinary academic programs and student organizations open to all students at Texas A&amp;M University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-undergraduate-minor-in-architectural-heritage-conservation\">Undergraduate Minor in Architectural Heritage Conservation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arch.tamu.edu\/academics\/undergraduate-programs\/minors\/minor-in-architectural-heritage-conservation\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"3056\">architectural heritage conservation minor<\/a> can serve as a complement to several major fields of study and is open to all Texas A&amp;M undergraduates. The minor encourages students to gain a broad understanding of the foundations of heritage conservation before advancing to specialized areas of interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-graduate-certificate-in-historic-preservation\">Graduate Certificate in Historic Preservation<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>We facilitate a graduate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arch.tamu.edu\/academics\/graduate-programs\/graduate-certificates\/historic-preservation-certificate\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"3188\">Historic Preservation Certificate<\/a> rooted in academic coursework that prepares graduates to enter preservation and conservation fields. The coursework necessary to obtain a certificate in historic preservation includes an undergraduate introduction to the field, and graduate courses in architecture and other related fields across the campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The graduate Certificate in Historic Preservation was approved in 1991 as the first university-wide certificate of its kind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-preservation-and-conservation-student-society\">Preservation and Conservation Student Society<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arch.tamu.edu\/impact\/centers-institutes-outreach\/chc\/education\/pacss\/\">Preservation and Conservation Student Society (PACSS)<\/a> of Texas A&amp;M University is a student organization dedicated to the advancement of the preservation field and related areas of conservation study.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-field-studies\">Field Studies<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Texas A&amp;M University has been recognized by the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/index.htm\"> National Park Service<\/a>, the<a href=\"http:\/\/aia.org\/\"> American Institute of Architects<\/a>, and the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.apti.org\/\"> Association for Preservation Technology International<\/a> as a leader in building documentation practice and the development of recording technology. Classroom studies are regularly supported by site visits and community-based project activities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-internships-employment\">Internships &amp; Employment<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arch.tamu.edu\/impact\/centers-institutes-outreach\/chc\/people\/fellows\/\">professional fellows<\/a> and connections between the center and government agencies facilitate the placement of graduates for internships and entry into professional practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-scholarships\">Scholarships<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h-\"> The CHC provides scholarships to students with interests related to the center.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"btn-wrapper \">\n\t\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<a class=\"btn \" href=\"https:\/\/www.arch.tamu.edu\/impact\/centers-institutes-outreach\/chc\/education\/scholarships\/\" target=\"\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tScholarship Opportunities\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/a>\n\t\t\n\t<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Center for Heritage Conservation provides focused interdisciplinary academic programs and student organizations open to all students at Texas A&amp;M University.
