This concentration prepares students to address natural disasters and technological hazards.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students with the certificate have worked in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Disaster research<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Emergency and hazard planning<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Policy formulation and implementation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Environmental Hazard Management Certificate is supported by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.arch.tamu.edu\/impact\/centers-institutes-outreach\/hazard-reduction-recovery-center\/\" data-type=\"page\" data-id=\"223\">Hazard Reduction &amp; Recovery Center<\/a>. Now he is working as the Disaster Recovery Program Manager with ICF \u2013 a forward-thinking consulting company that helps to plan, design, and implement transformative projects related to disaster recovery, energy, social problems and so much more.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n\n\n<details class=\"accordion\">\n\t<summary class=\"accordion__summary\">\n\t\t<div class=\"accordion__summary-inner\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"t-heading-6 accordion__heading\">\n\t\t\t\tEmily Sullivan\n\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"fal fa-plus accordion__icon\"><\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/summary>\n\n\t<div class=\"accordion__body t-body rte\">\n\t\t<p><b>Emily Sullivan<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> graduated with the certificate and a master&#8217;s in urban planning in 2018. She moved back to her hometown of Arlington, Virginia, and is now working as the environmental planner &amp; conservation agent for her town.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n\n\n<details class=\"accordion\">\n\t<summary class=\"accordion__summary\">\n\t\t<div class=\"accordion__summary-inner\">\n\t\t\t<span class=\"t-heading-6 accordion__heading\">\n\t\t\t\tSara Hamideh\n\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t<span class=\"fal fa-plus accordion__icon\"><\/span>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/summary>\n\n\t<div class=\"accordion__body t-body rte\">\n\t\t<p><b>Sara Hamideh<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> received her certificate when she finished her doctoral program in 2015; she is now an assistant professor in Iowa State University. Her research focuses on planning for resilience and uses both qualitative and quantitative methods to understand and inform planning for long-term recovery and resilience with particular attention to social vulnerability.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\t<\/div>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-css-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-curriculum\">Curriculum<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The Environmental Hazard Management Certificate includes 15 hours of coursework. To finish the program, students must complete a study, paper, or dissertation with a focus on environmental hazards approved by the Environmental Hazards Management Certificate Advisory
