The George Bush Presidential Library and Museum is a popular destination amongst students and visitors alike. Learn about our 41st<\/sup> president, his public service and family from the museum\u2019s incredible exhibits and explore the beautiful Barbara Bush rose garden and presidential pond. Special exhibits keep locals visiting the museum several times a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

College Station Parks<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The 58 parks throughout College Station make it easy to connect to nature and be active. You can walk or ride a bike along paved or gravel trails, play sports, picnic with friends and access many more amenities at any of these peaceful spaces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Downtown Bryan\u2019s rich and historic atmosphere makes it one of the area\u2019s most unique destinations. Explore all the shops, restaurants, caf\u00e9s and galleries downtown has to offer throughout the year, but be sure to visit on the first Friday of every month. First Friday, Downtown Bryan\u2019s signature event, brings musicians, displays and merchants to the district, making the area the place to be. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regulated by Texas Parks & Wildlife, Lake Bryan is the perfect place for a daytime get-away or an overnight camping experience. The lake\u2019s the best place in town for water activities, including swimming, fishing, kayaking, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Out of Town<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Many of Texas\u2019 most popular destinations are less than three hours away. Whether planning a day trip or a weekend getaway, these fun-filled tourist or nature attractions are worth the drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

San Antonio<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Located less than 180 miles southwest of College Station, San Antonio is home to the Alamo, the Riverwalk, and amusement parks. With a backdrop of rich culture and history, San Antonio is one of the state’s most walkable and compelling destinations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Austin<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The capital city is less than 110 miles west of College Station and noted for its vibrant entertainment, downtown and nature scene. Home to some of Texas\u2019 biggest festivals, including Austin City Limits and South by Southwest, Austin also offers beautiful lakes and parks, including Zilker Park, Barton Springs and Lake Austin. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dallas-Fort Worth is less than 190 miles north of College Station and is North Texas\u2019 bustling economic district. The twin cities are home to the Fort Worth Stockyards and Historic District, a variety of museums and attractions, and the state\u2019s biggest shopping scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Located less than 100 miles southeast, Houston is College Station\u2019s biggest neighbor city. Hosting the largest and most diverse metropolitan area in Texas, it\u2019s also home to Space Center Houston, a variety of museums and exhibits, and an active sports scene. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just less than 100 miles northeast of College Station, Waco is located along the Brazos River and near the heart of Texas. It offers some of Texas\u2019 most notable attractions, including Magnolia Market and the Dr. Pepper Museum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Galveston<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Galveston is less than 150 miles southeast of College Station and is one of Texas\u2019 most popular coastal getaways. Home to one of the closest beaches, the Moody Gardens and the Historic Pleasure Pier, Galveston is always on island time. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
