Kevin Gustavus has been appointed the new Assistant Dean for Business Services in the Texas A&M University College of Architecture. In his new role, Gustavus will oversee the day-to-day business operations for the college, ensuring that faculty, staff and students have the resources they need to thrive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
As Assistant Dean for Business Services, Gustavus will manage a range of responsibilities that include overseeing business office operations, finance, compliance with policies and communication between the college and central administration. He will work closely with the Dean\u2019s office and departmental leaders to prioritize and implement programs, projects and initiatives in alignment with the college\u2019s goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cI’m incredibly excited to step into this new role, and it truly feels like the pinnacle of my career,\u201d said Gustavus, a long-time member of the Texas A&M community. \u201cMy first goal is to ensure transparency in our business processes, particularly with budgeting. Our college is poised for great things, and I am committed to helping our faculty, staff and students turn their ideas into reality through sound financial management.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Gustavus\u2019s role will also require him to coordinate efforts across various administrative departments, such as Finance, Human Resources, IT, and Facilities. He will serve as the point of contact for these centralized functions, streamlining communication to speed up issue resolution.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In addition to managing operations, Gustavus will advise the Dean on a range of strategic decisions and serve as a liaison between the college and multiple campus entities, including Financial Management Operations, Human Resources and General Counsel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Experience and accolades<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Gustavus has spent over two decades at the university, but before that, he served in the U.S. Army for six years. He joined Texas A&M in 2002, initially working in the Division of Finance before moving to the College of Architecture in 2006. Over the years, Gustavus has steadily advanced through various roles, culminating in his current leadership position.<\/p>\n\n\n\n He holds a bachelor\u2019s degree in Communications with a minor in Economics from Texas A&M University, as well as a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Houston-Victoria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gustavus\u2019s dedication to his work has been recognized with numerous accolades, including the College of Architecture Star Performer Award in 2016 and 2020, the President\u2019s Meritorious Service Award in 2014, and the AFS Distinguished Achievement Award for Staff in 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Personal life<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Outside of work, Gustavus enjoys spending his free time outdoors. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cAs far as hobbies go\u2026I love doing just about anything outside,\u201d he said. \u201cBut hands down, on any given day, no matter the weather, no matter what else might be going on in the world, I\u2019d rather be FISHING!!!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gustavus grew up in Bryan with dreams of being an Aggie from a young age. He graduated from Hearne High School and eventually returned to Bryan-College Station with his family. He said he credits and shares all of his success with his wife, Dawn, whom he calls \u201cone of the most beautiful, kind, caring and tolerant women on the planet.\u201d They have two sons (15 and 18) and two daughters (25 and 28).<\/p>\n\n\n\n Gustavus\u2019 new role takes effect immediately. <\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cNone of this would have been possible without the support I have received from those at home, those in leadership positions throughout this college and this university, and those in the Business Office,\u201d he said. \u201dI am lucky to be a part of the best team in this college, and I would not be where I am today without their support, their dedication, and their commitment to making this a great place to work!\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" Kevin Gustavus has been appointed the new Assistant Dean for Business Services in the Texas A&M University College of Architecture.
