Youngjib Ham, assistant professor of construction science, is developing a rapid, automated jobsite risk assessment procedure.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Fast-forming hurricanes such as Laura and other natural hazards pose significant risks to construction sites, whose hazard risk assessment currently relies on time-consuming, labor-intensive manual inspections.<\/p>\n

Youngjib Ham, assistant professor of construction science, is addressing this issue by developing a rapid, automated site risk assessment procedure that employs large-scale data from drones and other devices fed into an algorithm to rapidly assess these sites\u2019 hazard risk elements and degree of vulnerability.<\/p>\n

He\u2019s developing the procedure in a 50K research project<\/a> funded by the National Science Foundation<\/a>.<\/p>\n
